About Fru K
Fru K takes the best of the traditional Norwegian and Scandinavian cuisine and gives it a contemporary twist – keeping in pace with the times and the world around us.
Freshly produced plays the lead role in Fru K’s kitchen. We know the origins of the food we serve and we are proud to live in a country with strong traditions in agriculture and fishing. With one foot in our cultural heritage and the other firmly planted in urban Tjuvholmen, our head chef Johan Laursen creates brand new culinary experiences with pure and natural flavours.
We stand for quality, contrast, art, creativity, culture and culinary experiences. The K stands for Krogh. Mrs Krogh owned Tjuvholmen at the end of the 18th century and kept three cows grazing on the islet with salty waters and juicy grass. Since then, the scenery on the islet has changed radically, and so has our culinary culture.
The salty waters still surround our shores, but the only cows on Tjuvholmen today are signed by Damien Hirst displayed in the Astrup Fearnley Museum next door.
Fru K welcomes you to enjoy a drink in the bar, a quick lunch, a Sunday dinner with the family or a complete evening of fine dining. You can order from our a la carte menu or choose the seven courses of the day with a full wine menu.

Johan comes from the Michelin-starred restaurant Maaemo in Oslo, where he worked as sous chef. He has competed in two Olympics and two world championships with Culinary Team Gothenburg and he has a background with the Swedish junior national culinary team.

Haakon Sand grew up just a short boat ride from Fru K, but he has spent his professional life at hotels and restaurants abroad. His most recent position was as head of dinner service at The River Restaurant in London.

The bar at Fru K is the new hotspot at Tjuvholmen. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee, a glass of wine with a bite to eat or a classic cocktail with a twist.
At Fru K, we put our own marks on the classic cocktails. We have added a touch of Norway to the menu and included garnish made from local ingredients. Our skilled bartenders combine solid craftsmanship with a genuine interest in mixology.

Food and Drinks at the Bar
The kitchen at Fru K has put together a delicious bar menu for the hungry patron. We offer a rich selection of traditional drinks at the bar, as well as wine, beer, coffee and non-alcoholic drinks. Furthermore, in addition to our wide range of ‘classics reborn’, we have combined local herbs, spices and flavours with the absolutely freshest bartending techniques to create our own unique Fru K cocktails.
Fru K offers chambres separées for private mingle events for up to 70 people and seated dinner for 35 people.

Havnehagen (The Port Garden)
Havnehagen is a chambre separée that seats up to twelve people for dinner.
Here you will be separated from the rest of the restaurant, though not from the lively atmosphere. The room is directly adjacent to Fru K’s wine room and it is perfect for parties that want our seven-course menu accompanied by great wines.
Tyveholmen (The Thieves’ Islet)
Tyveholmen is a chambre separée that seats up to eight people for dinner.
The room is perfect for private events and dinners. Itis also flexible, having its own lounge for aperitifs or coffee and liqueur. Tyveholmen is adjecent to the bar, and upon request the doors can be opened after the dinner to bring in the atmosphere from the bar.
“Tyveholmen” was the original name for Tjuvholmen – at the time when Fru. Krogh (Mrs. Krogh) owned the Thief Islet (Tjuvholmen).
Chambre separée FJORD is located on the 9th floor with an amazing terrace and panoramic view over the Oslo fjord and Tjuvholmen. With a capacity of up to 35 people, FJORD is the perfect venue for seated dinners or mingle / cocktail parties (70 people). Perfect setting for celebrating a birthday, anniversary or just an unforgettable summer party for your co-workers.
